Project 02

Pythagorean Theorem

02

While working through this project you will explore the pythagorean theorem and determine how to use it to find the lengths of any side of a right triangle.

Part 1: Parts of a Right angle triangle

In order to use the pythagorean theorem we need to know which parts of a triangle we are talking about so here is a reference.

Part 2: Exploration

Before you use anything you should always prove it! Therefore, we are going on a little adventure. First, we will be returning to the Den and finding pythagoras  in the picture below. Then use any number of sizes of triangle you would like and press the show proof box and rearrange until you recognize the pattern. When you are sure you see the pattern write down a few sentences describing the pattern you have noticed.

Part 3: Useing Pythagoras' Theorem

Return to Pythagoras and enter into the questions. Use the relationship you noticed in part 2 and project "squares and roots" to complete the questions, problems, and challenges sections. If you are unsure listen to the lesson ignoring pieces 14 to 18. When finished email your work to the dragonarch. Click Dragonarch below to email.
